# Restore the First — Seven pre-written reasons

Coalition partners: pick the one that fits your voice and audience, or write your own. Each reason names one of the six pillars of the coalition. All six are true; the point is to choose the one your audience already trusts you to speak on.

The template is always:

## 1. Religion (free exercise)

> …because a government that can classify a house of worship as "non-essential" during an emergency can classify any belief as inconvenient at any time. Free exercise has to survive the emergency, or it does not exist.

## 2. Speech (no jawboning)

> …because the *Finn* record shows the federal government privately pressured platforms to reduce six named Americans' reach by sixty percent, and the case was dismissed on pleading defects without ever ruling on whether that was constitutional. That evidence cannot sit unruled on the docket forever.

## 3. Press (functional journalism)

> …because the ability to publish is meaningless if the government can pressure a payment processor, a hosting company, or an app store to make you disappear. A journalist without infrastructure is not a journalist.

## 4. Assembly (viewpoint-neutral)

> …because peaceful assembly must be permitted on the same terms regardless of which side is meeting — and today it is not. Viewpoint-neutral rules protect everyone the next time the wind changes.

## 5. Petition (the right to be heard)

> …because when a citizen files a complaint with a federal agency and finds it routed to a counterterrorism desk, the right to petition has been converted into a warning system. That has to stop, by statute.

## 6. Speech Infrastructure (the sixth pillar)

> …because Congress is about to hand the layer that composes what every American will say next — AI mediation — to two or three federally licensed corporations. If the layer is captured, all five original pillars are captured, silently, at once.

Keep it to one sentence. Name a specific harm or a specific pillar. Don't hedge with "I believe" — the endorsement *is* the belief.

## 7. Don’t tread on my compute

> …because controlling who is allowed to build compute is controlling who is allowed to speak at scale — and a federal licensing regime for AI is prior restraint on speech infrastructure, no different in principle than a federal licensing regime for printing presses.
